Seventh Annual Phoenix Old World Oktoberfest
This is perhaps the only time of the year lederhosen and dirndls are deemed acceptable in public. Take advantage of it at Phoenix Old World Oktoberfest. Vendors, traditional German cooking demonstrations, dancing, wine, schnapps and beer will be aplenty. This two-day festival by the Arizona Center for Germanic Cultures kicks off its seventh year on First Friday at Margaret T. Hance Park. Younger attendees can be immersed in German culture at the Kinder Village with games, contests and activities.

Monsters Menagerie at the Alwun House
The infamously provocative and uncensored Alwun House will open its 13th Monsters Menagerie, chock-full of noir, grotesque and profane art spanning varying media. To compliment the gothic and morbid scene will be light jazz acoustic guitar and wine. Alwun House reigns as the oldest art gallery in Phoenix, and this year marks its centennial. The Monsters Menagerie exhibit will show until Oct. 27 and is open Tuesday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Mobile Karaoke Unit
The Mobile Karaoke Unit have participated in Phoenix Park(ing) Day, Bill Murray Crashpad and multiple First Fridays. They will be making another appearance on Roosevelt Row Friday. With a collection of 2,500 songs, the Mobile Karaoke Unit invite passers-by to sing in public and bask in the resulting humiliating fun. The MKU claim to possess the world’s first bike-driven karaoke system.

Third Annual AZ Zombie Walk
With a collection of fire-eaters, stilt walkers, jugglers, food trucks, art galleries and of course zombies, the Third Annual Zombie Walk promises to be this Friday’s hub of activity. Cold Blue Rebels and local DJs will provide tunes at this free event. There will be raffles and prizes. Hosts AzRockabilly and Zombie Mafia encourage visitors to donate cash and canned food to benefit St. Mary’s Food Bank.
Time: Begins at 5 p.m.

Chaos Theory 13
Legend City Studios insisted that each of the more than 60 artists it will feature produce work in unfamiliar media and styles for the one-night public show Friday. The gallery will feature a variety of photography, paintings and sculpture in Legend City Studios’ 7,000-square-foot venue.
