The Bioscience High School courtyard was bustling with pie lovers from across the Valley on Saturday at the sixth annual Pie Social. The social was organized by Phoenix New Times and Roosevelt Row CDC and featured some of the city’s finest local bakers. Each station had its bakers putting the finishing touches on each of their pies to make them look as delicious as they tasted. Their goal was to attract the attention of the attendees, who could vote for their favorite slice at the end of the afternoon. Proceeds from tasting and raffle-ticket sales benefitted Roosevelt Row. Pie lovers chose samples from an array of pies and restaurants, including Crepe Bar and Welcome Chicken + Donuts, before heading back out to the courtyard to enjoy live music from Tobie Milford and The Senators while contemplating which decadent dessert to name the winner. Children ran around with sugar smeared on their faces as adults relaxed in the grass, appreciating the bright day, the community around them and, of course, the pie.
