ICYMI: Charlie Rose loses Cronkite honor

Acclaimed broadcast journalist Charlie Rose will lose an award he received from Arizona State University’s Cronkite School of Journalism in 2015, Christopher Callahan, the school’s dean, announced Friday. The former CBS and PBS mainstay had drawn outrage after sexual harassment allegations against him became public.

Kate Gallego for Mayor Campaign Kickoff

Councilman Gallego is kicking off her mayoral campaign with an event catered by Barrio Cafe’s Chef Silvana Salcido Esparza. Gallego announced her candidacy in October days after Mayor Greg Stanton announced he would run for Congress. So far, Gallego will face off with fellow Councilman Daniel Valenzuela. RUMBLE: The Indians Who Rocked the World

No Festival Required and Zia Records are hosting a documentary that brings to light the influence of indigenous Americans on popular culture. The documentary focuses on Jimi Hendrix, The Black-Eyed Peas and other famous pop-culture icons. It features interviews from Martin Scorsese, Taj Mahal and historians who put together a masterful story about indigenous culture and its influence on music today. Tickets are available for $10 online.

Light the Night: First Friday at Phoenix Art Museum

Phoenix Art Museum is partnering with Just 3 Things to collect donations for teens transitioning out of the foster system. Any visitor who donates three nonperishable items will get free admission to an exclusive Brazilian art exhibit that very night.

Beer Choir PHX- Christmas Edition!

Enjoy Christmas carols with the Phoenix Chorale and drink beer to benefit Arizona Helping Hands, Inc. DeSoto Market is donating 10% of beer sales to the nonprofit, which works to help foster and indigent families at times of crisis. Attendees are asked to bring (unwrapped) toy donations for children in foster care or governmental support programs.
