Phoenix’s Welcome Diner reopened in a new location Monday evening after a quick transition from its old home only a few blocks away.

The restaurant shifted south of its original location, moving from the corner of Roosevelt and 10th streets to 929 E. Pierce. The new location, while more spacious, maintains much of the appeal and charm of the original.

“The welcome diner is a restaurant that’s driven by community and hospitality,” said Michael Babcock, the restaurant’s culinary director. “We’ve been in operation for five years in the Garfield neighborhood, where we originally opened up.”

He said leaving the original diner’s home was bittersweet, but he has big hopes for the new location’s future.

Welcome Diner boasts a selection of diner classics which are well adapted for modern tastes. A diverse offering of lunch and dinner menu items leads well into dessert- a varied selection of some of tastiest pie in Phoenix.

They also have a location in Tucson.

Welcome Diner now operates all days of the week, from 5. p.m. to 2 a.m.
