Stretched-out Spandex, princess dresses and werewolf claws.
Those were just some of the materials that grazed the floors of the Phoenix Convention Center on Saturday.
Cosplayers and comic fanatics alike met to mutually geek out about all things superhero and supernatural at the Amazing Arizona Comic Con.
Chris Stawisky and Jaclyn Cass made the drive from Flagstaff to spend Valentine’s Day weekend in downtown Phoenix. Cass spent countless hours crafting her long wings and used three different types of bird feathers for the event.
“I feel like the Amazing Arizona Comic Con is like Phoenix Comicon’s little sister,” Cass said of the day. “It’s a pretty good turnout for what it is.”
Another attendee was Keaghlan Ashley, a costume makeup enthusiast who once appeared on the Syfy show “Face Off.”
“For me, I am a huge fan of creating characters,” Ashley said. “That’s why I got into being a makeup artist — creating a character and bringing it to life.”
All in all, several thousand enthusiasts enjoyed the weekend festivities. Not quite Comicon, but pretty darn close.
