Roosevelt Row Community Development Corporation has made its New Year’s resolution – place six businesses into 40 feet by 8 feet by 8 feet repurposed shipping containers along Roosevelt Street by April 2013.
The city of Phoenix bike program has had a higher budget than originally planned for the past two fiscal years thanks to extra funding, but the program may not see any extra money next year.
The store is Andy’s Shoe Shine. Formerly Henry’s Shoe Shine, the location has been a shoe-shine shop since 1966. That’s 46 years the tiny, hallway-sized store has virtually stood still while Phoenix grew into the 21st century. The business is still going strong thanks to its current owner, Andy Millsap.
In the 34-minute Senate meeting on Friday, the Downtown student government Senate flew through several funding requests and then appointed the chairs for four of its new committees.
