At the beginning of Joseph Grossman’s second term as USGD president in August, he said he was confident the Downtown Senate could be filled for the first time. Five months later, seven seats remain vacant.
USGD displayed their new post office space, nameplates and polos during their first meeting of the semester on Friday and discussed a vacant Senate seat, a new director of administration and an overhaul of their bylaws.
The current Senate bylaws are only a couple pages in length, while the document being proposed Friday is roughly 22 pages. The most significant change of policy deals with committees, Senate President Joey Amonett said.
The Arizona Board of Regents read a proposed policy change that would make ASA completely self-financed and take the fee away from universities completely, and voted to temporarily suspend the Arizona Students' Association’s $2 fee collected until a decision can be made.
A proposal submitted recently by Downtown student government president Joseph Grossman would change the location of the student section at Sun Devil Stadium. The goal of the suggested move is to accommodate students on the lower bowl of the stadium.
