With sports betting now legal in Arizona, many are taking chances to win money off of their teams.

Arizona launched its sports betting market in September to kick off the start of the NFL season. The state permits for 20 mobile sportsbook licenses, 10 to Native American tribes and 10 to professional sports venues. Gov. Doug Ducey signed sports betting into law in April after the state legislators approved the bill.

The sportsbooks that are offered in Arizona are: Ballys Corp., Barstool Sportsbook, Betfred Sports, BetMGM, Caesars Entertainment, Digital Gaming, DraftKings Inc., FanDuel Group, Fubo Gaming Inc., Golden Nugget, Rush Street Interactive, SuperBook Sports, TwinSpires, Unibet and WynnBET.

There are more than two dozen states in the U.S. that have legalized sports betting, However, many of those states only have in-person betting. Arizona offers both in-person betting and online betting through sportsbook mobile apps that are downloaded through a mobile device or internet-connected device. When using the mobile apps, registration is required to guarantee the bettor is 21 years old and must grant access for a location tracker to guarantee the person is betting from Arizona.

In downtown Phoenix, both Chase Field and Footprint Center are opening up in-person betting venues. Chase Field partnered with Caesars Entertainment Sportsbook which currently has kiosks available for fans to place bets and are expected to open a full-fledged venue in the beginning of 2022. However, the Phoenix Suns opened up a FanDuel sportsbook at the Footprint Center that offers five betting windows, one VIP window and 26 self-service betting kiosks along with an outdoor terrace and space that features 40 HD TVs and a 35-foot video wall.

All professional sports and NCAA football and basketball are offered to bet on. Other sports markets such as boxing, tennis, rugby and auto racing are also being offered at Arizona’s sportsbook. The types of bets whether on the phone or in-person, are endless. These options include: point spreads, money lines, first half and second half, totals, futures and player props. Money line is the simplest bet that someone can place. This bet focuses on whether a team wins or loses.

“I love betting, it’s a great way to make money,” sports bettor Sam Cavallaro said.

“Gaming employs thousands of Arizonans and generates millions in tax revenue for state and local governments,” according to Gov. Ducey’s new release. The revenue generated will provide more funding for K-12 education; wildlife and habitat conservation that also benefits Arizona’s land; and helps fund mental health and substance abuse treatment centers.
