On Valentine’s Day, nearly 50 supporters of the DREAM Act showed up at the entrance to the State Capitol, carrying balloons and cards for Gov. Jan Brewer.

They came to ask the governor to be their Valentine, but not because she had captivated their hearts; they sought policy reform. The DREAMers and activists asked Brewer to allow deferred action recipients to obtain driver’s licenses despite their legal status.

Although the balloons could be seen from the Capitol’s windows, Brewer never showed to meet with the protesters.
