Downtown Dining: Lenny’s Burger Shop
Lenny’s Burger Shop is a delicious throwback joint that serves the typical fare of burgers, fries, hot dogs and malts, but while the menu may be small the food quality is simply outstanding. The burgers resemble something you might expect from an In-N-Out establishment but without that nagging feeling that you’re eating something mass-produced.
Downtown Dining: Majerle’s Sports Grill
For those of us who share a passion for both eating delicious food and enjoying a casual sports game, Majerle’s Sports Grill is a paradise. As the name alludes, the sports grill is owned by Phoenix Suns legend Dan Majerle, who infiltrated the restaurant business with the same hard work ethic he laid out on the court.
A piece of urban culture
Phoenix may not look or feel like New York but the hot weather and lack of hustle and bustle has not stopped one local from trying his luck at running a street corner hot dog stand.
Downtown Dining: The Breadfruit
The Breadfruit offers straightforward, laid back and honest Jamaican dishes. It's a rare treat to find this type of restaurant in an urban center and it should not be undervalued.
Downtown Dining: Sens
The former owner of Fate, Johnny Chu, opened up Sens last year and took on the position of executive chef. An unusual restaurant that serves what it describes as “Asian tapas,” Sens specializes in small, carefully-crafted foods that resemble appetizers in other restaurants.
Downtown Dining: Pasta Bar
Downtown Phoenix is not known for its nightlife, however there is Pasta Bar—a eatery dedicated to carb-based food—is open until 2 a.m. on weekdays.
Downtown Dining: Hanny’s
It’s 12:30 a.m., and you’re hungry. What do you do? Order pizza for the 16th time on your slowly disappearing M&G Dollars? Scrounge through your roommate’s stark cereal collection? Or how about enjoy a tantalizing pork loin, grilled red pepper, onion and mushroom sandwich with a side of skinny, crispy-fried onion strings for only $9.50?

Downtown Dining: Moira Sushi
When I heard that a sushi restaurant was opening in downtown Phoenix, my heart skipped a beat. I am a sushi connoisseur and couldn’t wait to try this new treasure right down the street from where I live on campus, on McKinley and Third streets.
