At the sixth annual State of Downtown Tuesday evening, Mayor Phil Gordon said ASU continues to pump life into downtown Phoenix and lead its revitalization efforts.

Over 100 float entries participated in the Veterans Day Parade on Wednesday with a theme of “Home of the Free Because of the Brave.” The march started at the Carl T. Hayden Veterans Affairs Medical Center on North Seventh Street and continued more than two miles west on East Camelback Road and north on North Central Avenue.

DevilCast: Art and music at St. Mary’s Basilica

St. Mary’s Basilica is a hub for local culture that brings together art, music and religion. This historical church is located on Third Street between Van Buren and Monroe streets.

Fair Trade Cafe hosted an event Nov. 6 in the Civic Space Park in honor of the traditions of El Dia de los Muertos. Around 30 community members and guests made an appearance at the event where there were multiple interactive activities for those in attendance, live musical performances, and several local artist exhibitions.

Red Bull competition hits First Fridays

Manny Mania, a nationwide skateboarding competition sponsored by Red Bull, will be making a stop in Phoenix this Friday. The skateboarding competition will be taking place as part of the regular First Fridays events, which features local art and culture.
