Deep house duo Gorgon City joins EDM artist Tchami this weekend in downtown Phoenix

Two household names in house music bring a weekend filled with immersive visuals, bassy vibrations and house sounds to downtown Phoenix.

On June 7 and 8, Tchami and Gorgon City, along with a diverse lineup of other electronic dance music artists,  performed at Warehouse 215, a historic space located on Grant Street, presented by EDM promoters and organizations Relentless Beats, Arizona’s leading EDM promoter, Body Language Festival, and Phoenix Warehouse Project.

Tchami, regarded as one of the pioneers of the future house music scene, will be performing Friday night and will be accompanied by Biscits, Honey & Badger, and Pat Riot on the Cathedral stage, who all fall under varying house sounds, ranging from tech to bass.

“Tchami is a legend, and I’ve been a fan from the start,” said Pat Riot, EDM DJ and artist performing on Friday with Tchami. “The guys from Gorgon City are amazing as well. It’s going to be an awesome weekend of house music.”

Pat Riot is signed to Confession Records, a label owned by Tchami. Riot has performed many shows at Warehouse 215 and at venues throughout Arizona, including Phoenix Raceway, which holds some of Arizona’s largest EDM venues.

“I’m stoked to perform this Friday and debut some new music, but aside from my performance, I am excited to see the lineup and connect with the crowd.” Pat Riot said. “Warehouse shows are essential, in my opinion; you can never go wrong with a warehouse.”

Saturday’s headliner is Gorgon City, a London-based duo formed of EDM producers  Kye “Foamo” Gibbon and Matt “RackNRuin” Robson-Scott, who have topped the U.K. and U.S. dance charts for the past decade. DJs and producers Azzecca, Max Styler, and Justin Iray will support them on the Cathedral stage.

Other performers include Nightfunk, Soul Clap, Très Mortimer, Dos Lonely Boys, Ema, Ico Soundz, Lujuan, Qüez and Sergik, who will be featured on June 7, and Breauxx, Bastian Bux, Dark Heart, Disco Zombie, Georgantas, Ghost Effect, Hotsauce, Tony Romera and Tommy Toole who will be performing on June 8.

Tchami and Gorgon City, among other shows hosted by Phoenix Warehouse Project, are presented by Phoenix Warehouse Project to raise funds for arts and culture in downtown Phoenix. Since its beginnings in February, it has thrown numerous other shows, including Shaq’s Bass All-Stars during March Madness weekend, Walker & Royce, Dr. Fresch and Green Velvet.

Some of the organizations Phoenix Warehouse Project has donated to include Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock Teen Centers, which helps provide free after-school training in music, dance, photography and art, and Childhelp, a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child abuse.

EDM fans across Phoenix have shown love to the initiative as well as the warehouse setting, which provides an alternative style of EDM show.

Many passionate EDM rave and festival enjoyers, such as Jose Corona Jaramillo, prefer the warehouse venue, where house music is more appreciated, compared to the otherwise bass and dubstep-heavy scene in Arizona, for its intimate size and unique assortment of artists.

“Shows like this are my favorite,” Jose Jaramillo, who attended numerous EDM events throughout Arizona, including at Warehouse 215, said of the venue. “You get a more intimate setting and more music. You can feel the positive energy in the room.”
