Mt. Vesuvius Volcano recreation at Pompeii Exhibit

The Arizona Science Center invites guests to a special presentation of Pompeii: The Exhibition. For one night only, guests will see a recreation of Mt. Vesuvius, the famous volcano that unexpectedly erupted and covered the city of Pompeii in ash and soot. The volcano viewing is free to the public, and additional costs into the Pompeii exhibit and attractions are $18 for adults and $13 for children.

Handcrafted – Indepth With Ink And Fiber

  • Tuesday, Jan. 23
  • 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • Heritage Square, 113 N. Sixth St.

Handcrafted at Heritage Square is hosting a class for making ink, dip pens and paper. Students in the class will learn information about paper and ink, including their history and how they’re made. Each student will get to take home their own handcrafted booklet, ink and a dip pen. All ages are welcome. The cost is $10 per student.

11th Annual William C. Canby Lecture: ‘Struggles in Federal Indian Law: Alaska Native Rights and the Katie John Litigation’

  • ASU Beus Center for Law and Society, 111 E. Taylor St.

Robert T. Anderson, the director of the Native American Law Center and a University of Washington law professor, will give an annual lecture named in honor of Judge William C. Canby, one of ASU’s Sandra Day O’Connor School of Law’s founders. The lecture will focus on the Katie John litigation, which centers on Alaskan natives’ fishing rights. There is no fee for the event.

Phoenix New Times Tacolandia 2018

  • Saturday, Jan. 27
  • 1 – 5 p.m.
  • Margaret T. Hance Park, 67 W. Culver St.

The Phoenix New Times’ annual Tacolandia event is back. Enjoy unlimited samples from over 30 local taco restaurants and live entertainment. Tickets are available online. Regular tickets cost $30; VIP tickets are also available for $50 that include two drink vouchers and access to a VIP lounge. The event is only for adults 21 and older due to alcohol availability.

The Grand Wine Festival

  • 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27
  • 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28
  • Lath Pavilion at Heritage Square, 113 N. Sixth St.

This festival celebrates Arizona’s local wineries. A variety of over 150 wines from more than 30 wineries will be available for tasting. The wines will also be available for sale by the glass, bottle or case. Tickets are available online for $15 or for $20 at the event. Tickets include a commemorative wine glass and six wine tastings.
