The CCVPC meeting this week has two items pending approval. One is the rezoning of a small 360-square-foot space near the southwest corner of the Buckeye Road and Seventh Street intersection for commercial uses. The other item will be amending city code to alleviate conflict between “Single Family Attached development, farmer’s markets, and public utility buildings and facilities.” Other items will be up for discussion only, revolving around changes to city of Phoenix lobbying ordinances and “changes to appeals requiring a 3/4 vote by the City Council.”

On Monday the University of Arizona College of Medicine and city of Phoenix are hosting a free Q&A session and building tour at the Phoenix Biomedical Campus. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear the latest information about the expansion of the campus.

“Who is the Trolley Museum Audience?” Planning Charrette

The Phoenix Trolley Museum, forced out of its old space, found a new home on Grand Avenue and aims to reopen in the next year after a redesign and construction. This planning meeting, led by interpretive planner Susan Shaffer-Namihas, will include a discussion of the museum’s audience. The results of the meeting will “inform [the] interpretive plan” for the revamped museum. Facebook RSVPs are appreciated for “head count purposes”–and refreshments will be provided.

The dog shelter that had been operating without a permit is up before a zoning officer again. After postponing its zoning hearing in April, the Canine Rescue Coalition is appealing to become an official dog shelter. The building the coalition is operating out of is owned by Native American Connections and is set to become an affordable housing development once construction begins in early 2018.

The Culture Show PHX

  • This urban fashio/trade show also includes live visual art, music and dance. Featured street-style brands include REP JC, Ghiaccio Fede, TK Art and more, with R&B group Jake & Papa performing, according to the event Facebook page. Tickets are $30. You can buy them online
