Walk across CityScape to Chloe’s Corner and you’ll find yourself in artsy, but reserved, lunch-hour heaven. Whether you’re tight for time or want to sit and relax for hours, Chloe’s provides upscale convenience for the working person who favors quick quality.
Chloe’s isn’t really much of a “corner,” since the place has a massive interior and an outdoor eating patio.
There is a grocery store-like marketplace where you can grab prepackaged sandwiches, salads, fruit and dessert bars if you don’t want to wait for your meal to be made fresh. You can even grab a beer from their large variety of beverages that also includes wines, teas and more.
Chloe’s sit and stay option is just as speedy as the rest of the ordering processes and is not dependent on your waiter. You arrive and order on spot, grab a number and head to your table where your dish arrives rather promptly.
The lunch menu includes the three S’s; salads, soups and sandwiches. I ordered enough food to stuff me like a Thanksgiving turkey on a $10 budget and had change left over. We ordered some of everything to make sure no “S” was left uneaten.
The Tuna Melt ($7.75) had a finger-licking delicious albacore tuna salad on the inside that had the perfect moist consistency. Unfortunately, I believe this weakened the texture of the cranberry walnut bread, because it lacked a crunch you normally find on toasted bread. Besides wishing the bread would have had a crunchier texture, the sandwich was tasty and came with a side of pickles.
Chloe’s offers two great grilled cheese sandwiches, the Classic Grilled Cheese ($4.75) and the American Grilled Cheese ($6.50) which contains three cheeses, tomatoes and the pièce de résistance — bacon. I ordered the American Grilled Cheese with a cup of Tomato Soup ($2.50) and the combination is always a crowd pleaser. Nothing like comfort food on a day jam packed with a heavy workload. It did just the trick to ease my mind and expand my belly.
The Spinach Salad ($7.00) comes with a large array of toppings, including one of my favorite combinations, strawberries and roasted pistachios. This salad normally comes with goat cheese, but for no extra cost you can supplement the goat cheese for feta cheese. For an added fee ($1.50) you can also add roasted chicken.
When it comes to seating in a restaurant, I can be really picky. Chloe’s does a great job of adding aesthetically pleasing design and comfort to their decor. Wooden tables come in all shapes and sizes creating somewhat of an uniformed yet mismatched collaboration across the dining room, and the chairs do the same. While some seating includes sturdy metal chairs, there are plenty of other materials and even different heights — meaning for picky chair choosers like myself, I have plenty of options to choose from. There are even big arm chairs for the people who need some coffee and comfort as they work or read.
Chloe’s is more than just a grab and go eatery. It’s a market, coffee shop, study lounge, place to catch up or to dine in solitude. If you exist in this world and enjoy food then I highly doubt you’ll have too many qualms with Chloe’s.
