Seven super-special dining deals and delicacies in downtown Phoenix

Seven locations. Seven specials. Seven ways to keep you busy or full. (Amanda LaCasse/DD)

If there’s one thing we editors at Downtown Devil have learned, it’s that there’s more to downtown Phoenix than meets the eye. We eat at downtown restaurants and frequent local businesses often, but they still manage to surprise us by mixing it up with different specials or initiatives throughout the year.

Restaurants here are rarely tired-out chains with little more to offer than an unimpressive happy hour. Check out this list of some special offers you may not know about at your favorite restaurants and businesses.

Phoenix Public Market Cafe, 14 E. Pierce St.
Nothing brings people together like sitting around a dinner table to share a meal, and Phoenix Public Market Cafe does just that by hosting a community three-course dinner on Sundays and Mondays. Stop by for local eats, familiar faces and family atmosphere.

Fair Trade Cafe (Civic Space Park), 424 N. Central Ave.
Enjoy a home-cooked dinner at Fair Trade’s community dinners on Sunday nights. With all kinds of food options in an environment designed to foster community growth, it’s a Sunday night dinner you won’t want to miss.

Crescent Ballroom, 308 N. Second Ave.
Crescent Ballroom puts other restaurants with measly two-hour happy hours to shame with their 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday happy hour. Grab a drink with a friend, nosh on some good ol’ #dtphx food and enjoy the lower prices. Crescent also offers free performances from Flamenco Por La Vida on Saturdays in the lounge. Props to Crescent for making sure downtown Phoenix never lacks entertainment.

DeSoto Central Market, 915 N. Central Ave.
One of downtown’s newest restaurants on the block transforms itself on Thursdays into a Prohibition-era speakeasy from 7-10 p.m. The lights go down, swing dancing lessons begin at 8 p.m. and guests can drink and dance the night away in 1920s fashion. Guests can expect classic cocktails on the menu and plenty of entertainment.

Welcome Diner, 924 E. Roosevelt St.
This comfort-food gem tucked in the outskirts of downtown now offers a three-course meal on Sundays for $25. The menu changes week to week but keeps Southern food staples.

Growhouse, 902 N. Sixth St.
Besides hosting some community dinners and outreach initiatives, Growhouse also hosts community gardening sessions on Sundays from 10 a.m. to noon.

The Vig Fillmore, 606 N. Fourth Ave.
Thanks to the Vig, downtown Phoenix residents can have an appetizer and a bottle of wine for $22 with their “Two for Twenty-Twosday” special on Tuesdays. So grab a friend and drink up!
