Two dozen children and adults clad in bathing suits and all-white ensembles gathered at The Firehouse Gallery on Saturday to celebrate the venue’s second annual colored water throwing party.
The event was inspired by the water theme of their upcoming gallery show and the Indian Holi festival, where participants throw colored powders in celebration of spring.
The Firehouse Gallery created a miniature oasis in their backyard, giving attendees the chance to escape the downtown Phoenix afternoon heat. A makeshift pool filled with beach balls and other water toys, a Play-Doh table, and a face- and body-painting station provided the main sources of entertainment. Partygoers dyed each others clothes and skin with buckets of colored water, paint and glitter while a DJ provided music from the Firehouse’s backyard stage.
