The first big storm of the school year always unites the many out-of-state students living at Taylor Place, and Monday’s outburst was no exception. The floor I supervise as a Community Assistant for the downtown residence hall was full of excited students running in and out of the building while the thunder rolled on.
During another storm this past weekend, one of my residents taught me how to take pictures of lightning as we braced heavy wind on top of a parking garage. For this picture, I had my ISO at 100, with an aperture of f/22 and a shutter speed of 30 seconds.
I waited at the window of my 14th floor Taylor Place room for lightning bright enough to show up on camera, and was really happy when I saw that flash behind the Alliance Bank building on my screen.
