I was doing homework, like students sometimes do in college, when I got up for the annual oh-my-gosh-what-am-I-doing-with-my-life break. I paced around my apartment and saw my window was glowing red.
I was confused and thought, “This is how horror movies start.” Mustering up the courage to see if the end was near, I saw it. The sunset.
However, this wasn’t like any sunset I’ve seen before. No. This was one huge cloud turning solid red. I grabbed my camera and ran to the roof. I didn’t know how or what was happening above me, but I decided I didn’t want to know. I wanted to take pictures of this ominous cloud.
Metering for the sky, I set my shutter speed to 1/80th of a second with a cooperating f/4.0 aperture. The red was gone two minutes after I started shooting.
When it was over, I walked downstairs and realized running after pretty sunsets is what I am doing with my life. Of course this was all in a span of four minutes.
