Meet Amanda LaCasse. This young woman is helping me this year as the assistant photography editor for the Downtown Devil. She has been helping me for a while, though.
She recommended I take a photography class at Phoenix College. The class focused on analog photography — or film. I’d never tried developing my own film and printing my own photos before, but I couldn’t wait to get started.
For my second assignment I asked Amanda to be my model. We found an empty dirt lot, and I started shooting photos while she got dizzy spinning around.
Using my Nikon F and 28 mm lens, I was able to capture her on 35 mm film. I brought the film back to the lab, where I processed and printed it. After many test strips, this was my result.
