From Ruffles to Photoshoots: Your guide to Saboten Con 2018

Phoenix will be filled with color, conversation and cosplay this weekend as the annual Saboten Con returns to the Phoenix Convention Center and Sheraton Hotel. Here is a list of events and sessions to help you prepare for this year’s convention

Cosplay & Photoshoots: Everything you need to know
Friday, August 31
1-2 p.m.

Saboten Con is filled with passionate cosplayers and photographers. But there is also a population of beginners as well. This panel of cosplay guests and photographers are here to help get you started. Whether you’re looking to create an epic cosplay or start a professional looking cosplay portfolio, this panel is here to answer all your questions about proper etiquette and the do’s and don’ts of cosplay photography.

So You Wanna be a Cosplay Photographer?

If you still have questions regarding cosplay photography and shoots, join Modeveic Photography for tips on setting up a successful cosplay photoshoot. There is even the opportunity to schedule a private photoshoot for practice.

Embellishing Costumes

When it comes to cosplay, every detail is essential. Between ruffles, bias tape or rhinestones, it’s the little details that complete the outfit. However, sometimes it’s hard to find a piece that compliments your outfit. NyuNyu Cosplay and Lunar Lyn invites you to join them as they share their favorite embellishing techniques and styles that add the finishing touches for a successful cosplay outfit.

Adhesives: The Sticky Situation

Not every fabric can be held together with a simple piece of tape or glue stick. In this session, Lunar Lyn will show you the differences and proper uses for certain adhesives and glues. A successful cosplay outfit isn’t as simple as one type of fabric or decoration. Through this informational hour, Lyn’s discussion can help to keep your epic cosplay from turning into an epic disaster.

Dying all the things!

Often times a cosplay might involve an odd color fabric or specific hair color for your wig. Why not raid your local craft store for dyes? Lunar Lyn and NyuNyu Cosplay are back again to teach about the fast and easy ways you can use dye to your advantage when creating your cosplay. Come and learn about the different colors and products to help shoot for that perfect hue or shade for your cosplay.
