A light rail train collided with a car at the intersection of Seventh and Jefferson Streets at 9:50 a.m. on Friday. While there were no injuries, the car was severely damaged and the front right corner of the light rail was crushed by the impact.

Seventh Street was blocked at the intersection for about 20 minutes while police gathered information from the conductor and the two occupants of the car, a young man and an elderly woman, who were taken onto the light rail. During this time, passengers of the train and the occupants of the car were kept on board the light rail while policemen directed traffic to turn off of Seventh Street.

After the driver and passenger of the car had been escorted off of the light rail, the train was moved to the station at 12th and Jefferson Streets, where police moved the passengers onto the platform and took information from each of them. At 10:30 a.m. the light rail continued on its route. At this point, there is no information about when the train will be repaired and back in order.
