
After two days of heavy rainfall and cooler weather around the Valley, more showers are predicted for the rest of the week, according to the National Weather Service.
According to the Weather Service, there is a 60 percent chance of more thunderstorms Tuesday morning and a 50 percent chance in the evening. The chances of rain diminish through the remainder of the week to 30 percent on Wednesday, 10 percent on Thursday and only a slight chance Friday.
The Weather Service issued flash flood warnings throughout the Valley, including downtown, for part of the late morning and early afternoon.
The stormy weather cooled Tuesday’s high temperature to 88 degrees. Temperatures will rise to 100 degrees by Friday.
Downtown Phoenix received .39 inches of rain Sunday, according to the Weather Service. The recording station is located near Fifth Avenue and Jefferson Street. Downtown Phoenix’s Monday rainfall was not immediately available.
This year, the monsoon has brought an average of 1.62 inches of rain across the Valley since July, according to the Weather Service. The season has no official end date, but should end sometime this month.
