With the new month, comes new and exciting exhibits in the Phoenix area, featuring unique art pieces like wall-to-wall projections, ceramics and fashion staples.

Here’s a look into five must-see exhibits you won’t want to miss this month:

“Mind Field”

Where: Bentley Gallery at 215 E. Grant St.

When: Through Dec. 11

Bentley Gallery is showing work by artist Danielle Hacche in her first solo exhibition at the gallery. The exhibit features mixed media works on paper and was inspired by 20th-century Modernist art, contemporary cultural production and color aesthetics, according to the gallery website. The artwork will “invoke familiarity, and provoke a longing for less cluttered, more simplistic and peaceful times and places,” says the website.

The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday and does not require tickets to attend.

“Toward the Morning Sun: Navajo Pictorial Textiles”

Where: Heard Museum at 2301 N. Central Ave.

When: Nov. 5 through Feb. 13

The Heard Museum is showing an acclaimed collection of Navajo textiles that date back to the first three decades of the 20th century starting Nov. 5, according to the museum website. The collection was a gift from Jean-Paul and Rebecca M. Valette, who spent nearly 40 years collecting the 57 textiles that they donated to the museum, said Velma Craig, an assistant curator at the museum.

The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday and tickets to the exhibit are included in the price of a general admission ticket, which can be purchased online.

“Fashion Subversives”

Where: Phoenix Art Museum at 1625 N. Central Ave.

When: Through Nov. 28

The Phoenix Art Museum is showcasing the works of some of fashion’s most well-known designers, including Yves St. Laurent and Paco Rabanne, through November 28, according to the museum website. The exhibit features nearly 40 garments and accessories that broke societal norms and had a monumental impact on the fashion industry, says the website.

The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday and tickets can be purchased online.

“Christy Wittmer: Mineral”

Where: Eye Lounge at 419 E. Roosevelt St.

When: Nov. 19 through Dec. 12

Eye Lounge, a contemporary art space in downtown Phoenix, will be showing artist Christy
Wittmer’s new ceramic works and drawings beginning on Nov. 19. The artist uses simple natural resources like rocks to create art and signify the larger process of the materials, says the exhibit website. “ I use these materials because they’re ubiquitous here. They’re just like debris that you can find anywhere and everywhere here. And, so I like to use them as objects that I can create meaning with,” said the artist.

The exhibit is open daily and does not require tickets.

“Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit”

Where: Lighthouse Artspace at 4301 N. Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale (While not in downtown Phoenix, this exhibit deserves an honorable mention.)

When: Through Feb. 6

The nationally-celebrated Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit is an hour-long experience that takes you into the world of Van Gogh’s most renowned paintings. The paintings come to life, projected onto massive screens around you, as original music by composer Luca Longobardi plays. The event website invites you to “lose yourself in 500,000 cubic feet of flawless projections animating Vincent van Gogh’s oeuvre.”

Visit any day of the week by purchasing tickets on their website or check out the Gogh with Lifeway Kefir Immersive Yoga class, a 35-minute class followed by 25 minutes to check out the exhibit, open Thursday-Sunday with tickets available online.
