People were evacuated from the Nursing and Health Innovation I building after smoke was found on the third floor around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, a spokesman for the Phoenix Fire Department said.

Although there was no fire or injuries, numerous firefighters were on site responding to the smoke, but Capt. Jonathan Jacobs said the cause of the smoke was unknown.

The smoke was most likely coming from the electrical motor of an elevator or from a fluorescent light, Jacobs said.
