“On the Record” is a music podcast hosted by Alexandra Watts and produced by Claire Caulfield and Annika Cline.

If you enjoy the local music scene in Phoenix, or let’s be real if you’ve ever even heard a local band play, this is the podcast for you. You’ll hear Phoenix bands, from Andy Warpigs to Wolvves, and everything in-between. Along the way we’ll track the expansion of Phoenix’s music culture and have a little fun, too.

For the first episode, listen in as Alex talks to Serene Dominic from Onus Records about the non-profit label model, discusses local festivals with Oren Simchy-Gross, and quizzes Claire on local music trivia (hint: she’s a great producer but has zero music knowledge).

A special thanks to Rubber Brother Records for providing us with music. They release music from artists in Phoenix and beyond, and you can check them out here. Songs in this episode include “Dad’s Bootstraps” by Human Behavior, “Crawl” by Wild Wild Wets, and “Souvenirs” by DINERS.

Another thank you goes out to Onus Records for the use of the song “Mr. Maybe” by Serene Dominic & the Semi Finalists.

Mark Your Calendars: (Here’s where Alex wants to be if she doesn’t have to do homework)

March 11th – Funny World
It’s no secret that I love DINERS. I’m excited for this show not only because of DINERS, but the other acts on the bill. GΛBI is an acoustic slice of heaven, and shout out to tagging the music on their Bandcamp page as “lame” (it’s anything but, but it made me smile). “Sovereignty” is also a great track from Red Tank!, so I’m excited to see them live, too.

March 14th – Viva PHX!
Just look at the lineup. Playboy Manbaby, No Volcano, and Bear State are just a few of the local acts that will be there. Also, Viva PHX! is being held at a lot of venues.

March 23 – Trunk Space
Sheep Among Wolves / Big O / No Body / Adult Feelings / Trevor Hedges (from Sundressed)– A good mix of local acts and friends from other states. The event is all ages, too. Also, if you’ve never heard Sundressed’s live acoustic album at Crescent Ballroom, you’re in for a treat.

March 27th–29th – McDowell Mountain Music Festival
I saw Sister Lip was on the Local Stage and got very happy. Like Viva PHX!, you have local artists and mainstream acts.
