College students missing their feline friends at home could soon be sipping on coffee while petting a cat in a new downtown café. Mews Cat Café is fundraising through Indiegogo with the hopes of opening a shop in 2016.

Phoenix City Council voted on Tuesday to create the Citizens’ Transportation Commission to oversee the implementation of Proposition 104, a transportation plan to be funded through a sales tax. This is the first official step the city has taken on the plan, which was approved by voters in August.

Michael Lanier's plant shop The Bosque is an oasis in the Phoenix desert. The greenery found in the shop isn't native to the region -- but if they're brought inside part of the year, Lanier says they can thrive in the city's urban apartments.
