World-renowned performance artist Saul Williams will perform at Lawn Gnome Publishing in November for a limited audience and the emerging spirit of the downtown Phoenix poetry scene.

The Burton Barr Central Library in downtown Phoenix has begun accepting proposals for 2013 exhibitions from Arizona artists in its @Central Gallery.

ASU and the Downtown Phoenix Partnership are working together to organize pop-up parks in Civic Space Park with music, bean bag toss and other activities on Friday afternoons.

The store is Andy’s Shoe Shine. Formerly Henry’s Shoe Shine, the location has been a shoe-shine shop since 1966. That’s 46 years the tiny, hallway-sized store has virtually stood still while Phoenix grew into the 21st century. The business is still going strong thanks to its current owner, Andy Millsap.

The city of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Board voted Thursday to approve a permanent downtown dog park on Culver Street between Third and Fifth avenues on the west side of Margaret T. Hance Park.
