From a Fulbright Scholar to a recipient of multiple Hearst Journalism Awards, students at the Walter Cronkite School once again have helped the school place among the highest in the nation for both print and broadcast journalism.
Treehouse Bakery opens permanent vegan bakery location
After baking in a rented restaurant kitchen for two years, the owner of Treehouse Bakery is grabbing a hold of a new area and introducing a vegan bakery to downtown Phoenix. Corianne Sizemore is opening a permanent Treehouse Bakery location near 15th and Grand avenues, the former home of Valley Pizza, this Friday.

‘Karaoke Smackdown’ at local retro lounge The Duce closed this semester's ‘Discover Phoenix’ series Wednesday night. The Arizona State University event at the one-of-a-kind venue treated students to “trailer-made” sliders, freshly squeezed lemonade and, of course, a lot of good old-fashioned Karaoke.
Local vendor finds cure for Valley’s bland hummus
Sabeur Rouin saw one major problem with the state of Arizona when he moved here — the hummus. He’s Doctor Hummus, the man behind the name of the business he started. He mashes locally grown garbanzo beans and adds his “secret ingredients” to create the perfect low-calorie snack. Rouin said dips made by competitors cannot measure up to his top-notch product that he sells at the Open Air Market at the Phoenix Public Market on Saturdays.
Fair Trade Cafe offers new loyalty system at both locations
Fair Trade Café implemented a new reward system for both their regulars and new customers with the adoption of a points card. Belly, which started in Chicago, was developed as a platform to stimulate return visits and entice returning customers with varying rewards based on the amount of points they rack up, said David Evan, the Belly card representative for Phoenix.
