Republican party supporters gathered Tuesday in the Regency Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency hotel in downtown Phoenix to celebrate Republicans taking control of the Senate.

Once the polls closed at 7 p.m., the election coverage was in full swing. If the Republicans garnered at least six spots in the polls, they would take control of the Senate.

With each passing hour, the crowd grew increasingly delighted as several Republican candidates won over their Democratic opponents. After each win, the successful candidate took to the stage and gave a short speech to thank his or her supporters.

When the poll was called in Republican gubernatorial candidate Doug Ducey’s favor, he was greeted on stage with cheers. The overjoyed crowd quickly drowned out his words. He smiled as they celebrated his victory.
