Desperate for a break from the digital world and the photographic rut I found myself in, I grabbed my favorite little film camera and headed out to do some street photography.
Eight shots in, the camera jammed. Undeterred, I decided to simply rewind the roll and use the first eight shots to experiment with double exposures. This process involves taking two or more shots on the same piece of film to create a layering effect that shows bits and pieces of both images and can be used to produce some stunning effects.
Little did I know, when loading the camera, I grabbed an already-used roll of film that I had been meaning to develop. The result: trippy triple exposures that mix a day in downtown Phoenix with random scenes from the last six months.
Film is all about patience, slowing down, meticulously planning each shot and then hoping for the best. The rest is a series of happy accidents.
