At first I wasn’t sure how I wanted to approach this project, and I felt like I had photographer’s block.
I figured I should treat this shoot like the ones I do for fun and immediately texted some of my friends. I figured it’s a fun way to hang out, and, of course, the best way to get our next photo for Instagram.
We went for a walk in downtown Phoenix and played with light and shadows. I wanted this project to reflect our friendship — fun and silly.
This photo is a great example of this. We cast a shadow of a hand on my friend’s face and pretended to grab her as she made a funny face.
I exposed for the gold light left on her face. To do this, my shutter speed was 1/250th of a second with a f/5.6 aperture.
This project reminded me to not take everything so seriously. Sometimes you just have to relax and have fun with your friends.
