PHOENIX – On Oct. 2, PHX Arena, formerly known as the Footprint Center, announced it would be donning a new name: Mortgage Matchup Center.

The new name is a result of a new 10-year, $115 million naming rights partnership with Mortgage Matchup, the consumer-facing brand of United Wholesale Mortgage, owned by Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia.

“With this announcement, Phoenix strengthens its standing as a premier destination for major events and world-class sports and entertainment.” Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego said in a press release distributed by the NBA.

It also establishes Mortgage Mashup as the official mortgage partner of the Suns, Mercury and Valley Suns.

“This partnership…represents two organizations that have natural alignment and a shared commitment to excellence,” Ishbia said in a press release. “The Phoenix Suns and Mercury have a diverse, passionate and engaged fan base in sports that will allow us to make strong connections between mortgage brokers and consumers.”

The arena is set to host the Women’s Final Four in 2026 and the NBA All-Star Game in 2027.

The rebrand comes just in time for the WNBA Finals, where the Phoenix Mercury will face off against the Las Vegas Aces at home on Wednesday, Oct. 8.

Suns Head Coach Jordan Ott said he’s grateful that Ishbia has been supportive of the teams.

“It’s no surprise for all of us that Mat has done it again,” Ott said. “He’s willing to do everything possible to put us in the best position.”
