The Arizona Rattlers celebrated their third consecutive ArenaBowl championship with a parade Wednesday through downtown.

The city of Phoenix organized the parade for the champions, which started at about 4 p.m. Heading north from First and Jefferson streets, the procession moved to Van Buren Street and then circled back along Central Avenue.

Roughly 200 fans crowded both sides of the street as convertibles and trucks full of players drove by them. The players, cheerleaders and management waved and raised three fingers to represent a “three-peat” while people cheered and clapped for the team.

Once the parade was finished, people moved to the US Airways Center for post-parade speeches. With city and state leaders in attendance, including Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton, the team thanked the fans, who got the chance to talk to the player and get autographs, pictures and limited-edition championship T-shirts.
