The 2017 Martin Luther King March, which took place near downtown Phoenix, attracted thousands of participants from all across the Valley.
The approximately 2-mile route began at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church and ended at Margaret T. Hance Park downtown.
Some marchers carried signs and flags, while others sang hymns and chanted. At the end of the march, an afternoon festival at Hance Park, filled with activities and vendors, rounded out the day’s celebrations.
The march was organized by the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee in conjunction with the city of Phoenix, and is expected to return next year.

Correction: January, 17, 2017:
An earlier version of this story misidentified the starting point of the march as Pilgrim West Baptist Church. It has been updated to include the church’s correct name.
