We want to hear from you: What are your questions for Phoenix’s mayoral candidates?

The race for the city’s top office is in full swing, with five candidates vying to be the next mayor of Phoenix as of June 8.

Former Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton announced his resignation to run for Congress earlier this year, stepping down on May 29 and triggering a November 6 special election.

Apparent front runners are two now-former city council members, Kate Gallego (District 8) and Daniel Valenzuela (District 5). The race also includes self-proclaimed political outsiders Nicholas Sarwark and Moses Sanchez, as well as the most recent candidate, Tim Seay, a non-profit businessman and Freemason. You can read more in our official guide to the mayoral race.

To help our readers better understand the contenders, Downtown Devil will be sending a questionnaire to each candidate so they can let the public know where they stand on issues that matter to downtown.

We need your help. Downtown Devil strives to be more than just your source of downtown Phoenix news, but also a community discussion platform. That’s why we want to hear what issues matter most to you in the upcoming mayoral election.

We want to know what questions you have for the mayoral candidates. What are the issues that you want the incoming mayor to address? What direction would you like the mayor to take downtown Phoenix? We want your questions and ideas.

Please send questions to our email until the end of the day on August 15.

We invite all individuals, neighborhood organizations, community groups and downtown stakeholders alike to participate. We will be ultimately compiling a questionnaire of the most frequently asked questions to send to the mayoral candidates and publishing the results.

Please send questions to news@downtowndevil.com by the August 15 deadline.
