The dusty, vacant lot between Taylor Place and the Valley Youth Theatre on First Street and Fillmore Avenue became significantly brighter after a 2,500 square-foot mural was unveiled during the May First Friday art walk.
HopeFest Phoenix, the one day free healthcare and social services event, is the largest of its kind in Maricopa County. More than 10,000 people attended the second event hosted by CityServe Arizona, many of whom seeking clothes and haircuts.
ASU signed a five-year lease for the 33,522-square-foot two-level space in March. The units will be reconstructed and used for classrooms and offices, university officials said.
