Clothing company WASHED supports people who are experiencing homelessness

WASHED, which stands for “Washed Apparel Serving Humanity Every Day,” is a clothing company that aims to give back to the community.

The phrase, “buy a shirt to give a shirt,” on every tag rings true. For every shirt sold, the company will buy and wash a shirt from Goodwill.

Founder of WASHED Jayce Candrea uses all the proceeds to buy second-hand clothing and other supplies to give to people experiencing homelessness in downtown Phoenix and other cities. So far, over 1,500 shirts have been donated.

Candrea is a senior studying business management at Grand Canyon University. The company earned Candrea first place in GCU’s Shark Tank-style competition, “Canyon Challenge,” where students pitch their ideas to investors for a cash prize.

Correction: A previous version of this story, not the video package, misspelled Jayce Candrea’s name.
