Hello my amazing downtown Phoenix people! Thanks for looking at another great edition of the Downtown Digest, of course written by me, T.J. Triolo. I’m back with more stuff for you to do to finish off April in a fun way.
Earth Day Simple Solutions Summit
Monday April 22
Starts at 9:30 a.m.
Phoenix City Council Chambers
200 W. Jefferson St.
It’s Earth Day on Monday, which means it’s time to think about ways to be nice to our planet. This summit should bring just the inspiration you need, complete with a round of eco-friendly Shark Tank. This event is free.
Tour de Ren
Friday April 26
3–5 p.m.
Renaissance Square
2 N. Central Ave.
You know how a lot of people go on long bike rides to raise money for charity? This is like that, except that it’s on spin cycles instead. So while you’re staying in place riding, you’re still raising money for charity and getting in the exercise you need at the same time. You can even get a team together for a $1000 donation to Phoenix Children’s Hospital to ride a bike at the event, or just come watch and see the live DJ!
Phoenix Symphony: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in in Concert
Friday April 26, Saturday April 27 and Sunday April 28
Performances at 7:30 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday
Symphony Hall
75 N. Second St.
If you’re my age, you grew up with Harry Potter. If you’re a parent of someone my age, you probably still watched the Harry Potter movies. The music from the series is amazing, so the Phoenix Symphony is performing it for your enjoyment. However, this isn’t a competition, so you won’t win an actual Goblet of Fire from this performance. Tickets cost $23–$125.
The Best of Master Ballet Academy 2019
Saturday April 27 and Sunday April 28
Starts at 6 p.m. Saturday, 1 p.m. Sunday
Orpheum Theatre
203 W. Adams St.
If you think you’ve seen talented ballet students before, here’s a chance to see some from one of the best schools in the world. The Master Ballet Academy is ranked #4 in the entire world, and their students are going to be showing off their skills to us here in Phoenix. Talk about fancy! Tickets cost $17–$25.
CultivEAT 2019
Sunday April 28
Starts at 6 p.m.
Growhouse Urban Agriculture Center
1025 N. Second St.
Growhouse has been a community garden for people downtown for a while now, and they’re hosting their annual CultivEAT farm-to-table event. With food prepared by talented local chefs, this will bring together a bunch of prominent figures downtown, including political and community leaders, artists, business owners and others to share a meal. The proceeds will benefit the Growhouse’s efforts to further its mission of expanding urban agriculture. Tickets cost $75.
