Hello my lovely downtown people! It’s T.J. Triolo, your guide to events downtown. I’ve got some stuff for you to do this coming week, and since after Tuesday or so it’s supposed to be under 90 degrees again, it’s also going to be the perfect time to go do something outside. Something like going to the park, or hiking or what have you. Enjoy it while it lasts, before your electric bill goes up.
PHX2Zero Lecture Series: Juan Martinez
Monday April 8
5–7:15 p.m.

Let’s be real about something: Sustainability is important. Coming from someone who has a car obsession, this may seem somewhat ironic, but we all have our vices. This is an annual lecture that’s held in Phoenix on sustainability and waste reduction. This lecture features Juan Martinez, CEO of Leaders in Action LLC and VP of Strategic Partnerships for Children and Nature Network. This event is free.

7–9 p.m.
The Dressing Room
220 E. Roosevelt St.
This our is a fun and fruitful way to go back in time with Phoenix’s LGBTQ history. The Dressing Room is a restaurant that was the former dressing room for a drag bar, so what better place is there to hold an event educating people on LGBTQ history in Phoenix? Tickets cost $25, and the price includes a complimentary cocktail.
Special Olympics of Arizona Benefit
Thursday April 11
Starts at 7:30 p.m.
Stand Up Live

The Special Olympics is a great chance for athletes in Arizona with disabilities to get a chance to compete with each other and have some fun. Comedy is a great way to unwind and have some laughs. What do these two things have in common? Stand Up Live is hosting a benefit for the Special Olympics, with proceeds from the comedy show helping fund the Special Olympics’ mission. Helping people while going to see some comedy? Count me in! Tickets cost $25.
Breakfast with the Bunny
Saturday April 13
Hard Rock Café

Grand Opening of the New Park Central
Saturday April 13
9 a.m.–1 p.m.
Park Central Phoenix

The old Park Central Mall is getting an overhaul, and historic memorabilia from its past will be on display. There will also be live musical performances, and all the mall’s new stuff will be shown off. This event is in partnership with Artlink Phoenix, so there’s probably some artsy stuff involved! This event is free.
