Hello my fabulous downtown Phoenix people! It’s your weekly guide to what’s going on downtown, T.J. Triolo. I’ve got some good events for you coming up this week, so don’t spend all week staying in and doing nothing. After all, you do live downtown for all the great events, right? Of course you do!
Dan and Phil: Interactive Introverts
Tuesday Aug. 7
Starts at 7:30 p.m.
Comerica Theater
400 W. Washington St.
My sister loves these two YouTubers. I can’t say I’ve really watched one of their videos myself; I mostly use YouTube for listening to music and figuring out how to do car repairs. I think they mostly do goofy stuff for their videos. They have a live stage show that they’re doing here in Phoenix this week, so if you’re a YouTube fan come check them out! Tickets cost between $18 and $84 depending on the seats.
Strong Towns
Wednesday Aug. 8
Starts at 5 p.m.
A.E. England Building
424 N. Central Ave.
Strong Towns helps advocate for cities grow and develop in stable and sustainable ways for the economy. That definitely sounds like a good cause to me for long-term economic survival! The organization’s president, Chuck Marohn, is going to explain how a city’s chosen development patterns will affect finances. This event is free.
Chef Nobuo’s Indulget, Seven-Course Tasting Menu
Thursday Aug. 9
Starts at 5:30 p.m.
Nobuo at Teeter House
622 E. Adams St.
Chef Nobuo has a special treat for those coming in on Thursdays in August; a seven-course meal for $50 per person.
This is a discounted price because of the massive amount of food you get. It even includes a traditional Japanese dessert, because there’s always room for dessert.
Museum Yoga Series
Saturday Aug. 11
Starts at 9:30 a.m.
Heard Museum
The Heard Museum is doing yoga in different locations around the museum each week in August. All skill levels are welcome, so if you can’t touch your toes because your spine seems to be made of rigid steel like mine, then you’ll be just fine. The event costs $10, which includes Heard Museum admission.
Europa Games
Saturday Aug. 11 and Sunday Aug. 12
Starts at 10 a.m. both days
Phoenix Convention Center
100 N. 3rd St.
If you’re like me you might have thought this was a board game convention for European-style strategy games (my favorite kind), but I was completely off the mark here. It’s actually for active lifestyle products like sporting goods, clothing and vitamins. If you’re a fitness freak, it sounds like this will be right up your alley. Tickets cost $20.
