Hello downtown Phoenix readers! It’s T.J. Triolo, your guide for things to do in downtown Phoenix. It’s summer time, and the living’s easy, especially with my event guides. After all, it makes it easier to find things to do. Unless you want to do something other than what I have listed, in which case Google is your best friend. After all, Google can even tell you how many porgs were built for the Star Wars movies (of which there were 15 built).
Justice Museum’s 90th Anniversary of the Old Courthouse Celebration

Maricopa County’s old courthouse is turning 90 years old, which means it’s older than my grandparents. It’s also one of the few buildings I can think of in Phoenix that’s at least 90 years old. Not to mention the architecture has a really nice historic look to it! There will be live music, oral histories, tours and a buffet involved here. This event is free.

‘Live’ Lucha Libre Wrestling
Friday, June 14

“When you are a man, sometimes you wear stretchy pants, in your room. Just for fun.” Do you want to see the fun Mexican-style wrestling featured in Nacho Libre, in which they wear far better costumes than American wrestlers do? Here’s a chance to see it in action! The Crescent Ballroom is hosting a lucha libre wrestling night, complete with band Las Calakas providing music. Tickets cost $12 to–$15 for general standing and $20–$25 for ringside seating. This event is 21 and older.

The Culture Fitness & Fashion Expo
Saturday, June 15

Bro, do you lift, bro? Whether you lift, just started going to the gym, do Crossfit, go running or whatever, you can check out fitness trends and equipment here at this expo! There will be more than 220 vendors and a fitness fashion show, which I’m assuming involves people modeling workout clothes. The one thing to remember: twerk out during your workout. Or don’t. I just like saying that because it rhymes. Tickets cost $22 online, $27 on event day.

The Arizona Indoor Custom Car Show 2019
Saturday, June 15
11 a.m.–8 p.m.
Phoenix Convention Center
100 N. Third St.
More than 500 customized cars in an air-conditioned space. That’s what you’ll find here because really, who wants to hold a car show outside this time of year? The vehicles on display will show all manner of customized cars, trucks and motorcycles. I could bring my Miata; I mean, it is modified and customized, but it would also look like a joke with its worn interior and scratched paint job consisting of matte black spray paint. What can I say? It’s built for racing and has a lot of used parts. It’s not meant to be super pretty! Tickets cost $20 per person, kids 12 and under are free. Veterans’ discounts are also available.
Jennifer Lopez “It’s My Party” Tour

J. Lo is coming to Phoenix for her “It’s My Party” tour! I’ve liked her music for years, ever since she was a judge on “American Idol” when I was about 13 or so. I remember her debuting her song “On the Floor,” which I instantly liked a lot. She’s a well-known and really talented performer, so this will be a performance not to miss! Now in light of some of her more recent hits, here’s my question: How long before Pitbull comes out on stage during the show and starts rapping? Tickets cost $70 and up.
