Hi downtown people! It’s T.J. Triolo, your guide to downtown Phoenix events. I’m back with some more things for you to do if you’re bored, need a fresh start, a way to get outside your home or really for any reason at all. This is the last week of March, so end the month on a high note with a fun local event!
Independent Woman Luncheon 2019
Tuesday March 26
Starts at 10 a.m.
Phoenix Art Museum
1625 N. Central Ave.
This seems like a fairly fancy philanthropic luncheon for the local design and visual art community in support of the Phoenix Art Museum.. It’s geared toward women, and it’s in support of the Phoenix Art Museum. The keynote speaker is Cathy Graham, who’s done illustrations for such well-known media outlets as The New York Times, Rolling Stone and HBO. As I’ve mentioned before, I have a lack of talent for creating visual art; this means that people who can do it are much more talented than me at creative things, so go listen to them! Tickets cost $300.
ASU 2019 Global Sport Summit
Thursday March 28 and Friday March 29

Here’s the place where jocks and nerds unite: Research and academic topics about sports will be discussed. The research theme for this year is Race and Sport Around the Globe. The event encourages anyone involved in the sports business to attend, from reporters to CEO’s to researchers to students. This event is free with registration.
Thirty-third Annual American Indian Student Art Show & Sale

If you’ve lived in Arizona for a while you’re probably seen some pretty good Native American art. The Heard museum is offering the oppprtinity for you to have some of your own. The sale is part of an exhibition, contest and sale featuring art made my Native Americans grades 7-12. There will also be prizes for the students’ art. And who doesn’t want to go support a bunch of kids and their artwork? https://heard.org/event/student-art-2019/”>Admission is free.
Day of Puppetry
Saturday March 30
10 a.m to 4 p.,
Great Arizona Puppet Theater
302 W. Latham St.
This celebration features a lot of puppet-related things: puppet shows, parades, puppet making, face painting and a food truck right in the downtown area. The Great Arizona Puppet theater will have a wealth of activities and different shows. Visitors can pop in and out as they please the entire day. Tickets cost $10 for all day access.
Phoenix Pet Spectacular
Saturday March 30 and Sunday March 31
Starts at 10 a.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday
Phoenix Convention Center
33 S. Third St.
If you like animals at all, then come here. If you don’t like animals, you have no soul. This convention features everything pet-related, be it products or services, shows like dogs catching discs, and a lot more. Cosplay for both people and pets are highly encouraged. There will even be goat yoga, which looks weird to me, but is probably relaxing. Tickets cost $10.
