Hey everyone. It’s your downtown Phoenix guide, T.J. Triolo. I’m back from vacation! I was in California last weekend, but I haven’t abandoned my readers though, so here are some events coming up for next week.
Summer Fitness Boot Camp
Monday, June 25
6–7 p.m.
A.E. England Building
424 N. Central Ave.
Summer in Phoenix means it’s actually harder to exercise during the warmer months without risking heat stroke. To help you find a better way to work out during the summer, the FitPHX is partnering with the Lincoln Family YMCA to provide a indoor fitness boot camp that lasts seven weeks on Mondays. Come out and stay in shape in air-conditioned comfort! This event is free.
Hacker Heaven
Tuesday, June 26
6–8 p.m.
Burton Barr Central Library
1221 N. Central Ave.
Ah, Snap Circuits. I remember playing with them as a kid and making electrical stuff work with them! At this event, you can play with Snap Circuits and learn some computer coding skills. This event is free and family-friendly.
Rooftop Yoga – Sutra Studios
Wednesday, June 27
Starts at 7 p.m.
Lustre Rooftop Bar
2 E. Jefferson St.
Do you want to do a yoga class while looking down on everyone from your high position in the universe? At this class, you can do yoga and feel like you’re on top of the world. Well, maybe just on top of the roof of the third floor of the Palomar Hotel, but you’re still high up! Listen to music, relax, do some yoga and maybe get some drinks afterward at the bar. The event is free, but drinks are not included.
Intro to Laser Cutting
Saturday, June 30
Starts at 12 p.m.
Create at AZ Science Center
600 E. Washington St.
If you’re the artsy type but need inspiration from a new medium, then consider using a laser. Learn how to use a laser cutter to engrave materials like metal, glass, wood and stone. Create a design and watch as the laser engraves your design for you! I wonder what would happen if I put my finger in the laser’s beam? Probably nothing good. I think I’d probably end up at the hospital, and I’d prefer to keep my record of never having any hospital visits going for now! The event costs $50.
Kevin Hart ‘Irresponsible’ Tour
Sunday, July 1
Starts at 8 p.m.
Talking Stick Resort Arena
201 E. Jefferson St.
If you don’t know who Kevin Hart is, you’ve been living under a rock. If you haven’t seen one of his movies, go watch one like “Ride Along” or “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.” His movie’s are filled with great comedy and more than a few short jokes, and his live performance is sure to be just as funny. Go see his live comedy show next Sunday, which costs between $35 and $150.
