Hello, downtown readers! It’s T.J. Triolo, your downtown Phoenix events guide. I’m back with some more great events for you this week. September is almost over, which means the weather should start cooling down soon. Someone please wake me up when September ends!
Greater Phoenix Economic Chamber of Commerce’s Economic Outlook 2019
Tuesday Sept. 25
7–10 a.m.
Sheraton Grand Phoenix
340 N. 3rd St.
If you haven’t noticed all the construction and economic growth going on here downtown, you’ve been living under a rock. Three economic experts will speak at this event, presented by the Greater Phoenix Economic Chamber of Commerce and Cox Communications. They’ll give their takes on what’s coming up in 2019 for Phoenix economically, be it challenges or benefits that could make a lot of money for business owners. So come find out which direction Phoenix business will go in the new year: raking in cash, or time to cut back on expensive extra spending. Admission costs $105.
Central-City Phoenix Neighborhoods Mayoral Debate
Wednesday Sept. 26
7–8:30 p.m.
Burton Barr Central Library
1221 N. Central Ave.
If you’ve kept up with the news regarding the mayoral race, then you know it’s getting close to election time. All four mayoral candidates on Phoenix’s ballot are participating in this debate: Kate Gallego, Daniel Valenzuela, Nicholas Sarwark and Moses Sanchez. This debate is hosted by a bunch of local organizations that have long names: the Downtown Voices Coalition, Midtown Neighborhood Association and Phoenix Downtown Neighborhood Alliance. KJZZ reporter Christina Estes will moderate the debate, which will focus on issues relevant to the urban neighborhoods of Central Phoenix. This event is free.

Dream Bridal Fashion Show
Wednesday Sept. 26
7–10 p.m.
Monorchid
214 E. Roosevelt St.
If you’re looking to get married soon, then come here and get some ideas! The dresses here aren’t even in stores yet, so come check out some hot new designs before they hit the market. The event’s description says it’s high-end, so there’s another reason to come check out this event. Or if you’ve just been listening to too much Iggy Azalea lately and want to feel “Fancy,” here’s your chance. Tickets start at $75.
The Phoenix Symphony: Mozart, Strauss and Tchaikovsky
Friday Sept. 28 and Saturday Sept. 29
Both performances start at 7:30 p.m.
Symphony Hall
75 N. 2nd St.
The Phoenix Symphony is going to be playing some music by some of the most brilliant and long-dead classical music composers. Featuring Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, Mozart’s Symphony No. 36 and Johann Strauss’s Emperor Waltz, this classy show is going to be filled with people who can play instruments well. Although classical music isn’t my favorite type, I can certainly appreciate its beauty, and the talent of people who know how to play instruments! Tickets start at $30.
2018 Roosevelt Row Chile Pepper Festival
Saturday, Sept. 29
5–10 p.m.
Roosevelt Row Arts District
Second and Roosevelt Streets
Be ready to test your taste buds! This event, hosted by the Roosevelt Row Community Development Corporation and Growhouse Community Garden, is going to have activities for kids, live music, margaritas and beer, and, of course, a bunch of food featuring insanely hot peppers. This may be heaven for spice lovers, but I’d probably run away screaming in pain. Tickets cost $10, and proceeds go toward Growhouse’s urban gardening programs.
