Valley of the Sunflowers Paper Project

Recommended if you like: paper party hats, recycled goods, printmaking

The sunflowers planted at the empty lot at Fifth and Garfield streets have gone through a lot from being harvested and turned into eco fuel to being biodegraded into compost and used as mulch. Now the once-blooming flowers take their final form as paper art projects. ASU graduate students in the Herberger Institute School of Art’s printmaking program took the plant fibers and transformed them into paper, all keeping in tune with the Valley of the Sunflowers chord — naturally.
